DIY On Camera Beauty Dish

This photo was not taken with a ring flash though it has a catch light similar to one. The subject was only around three feet away from the camera and the flash was on camera and the shadows are virtually non existent. This was accomplished using the widely available DIY beauty dish recipe you can find on the web.

 We then moved outdoors to test the light modifier against a pretty harsh setting sun.  You can tell how bright it is by the models squinting eyes!  With an unmodified flash we would have had harsh shadows across her face but instead the light "wraps" around her.

One final image, I moved into trying a macro type shot in a very shadowed area of our "weed" garden.
